Congratulations to Rory Batten (Year 11), who was named the Overall Winner of the Warrnambool and Moyne Young Business Leaders Program for 2025. Rory was one of four young entrepreneurs selected to showcase their businesses at the Lighthouse Theatre, where he delivered an outstanding pitch to the audience. Throughout the year, Rory has been actively involved in the program, gaining valuable insights into business development and entrepreneurship. His business, Bat’s Media, has made an impressive start — already supporting events across Victoria. Rory’s first-place prize of $1,000 will no doubt help him continue to grow his business even further. Congratulations, Rory, on this fantastic achievement!

The future looks bright for lighting technician, sound engineer and photographer Rory Batten. The 17-year-old Brauer College student was one of 21 young entrepreneurs to take part in the Warrnambool and Moyne Young Business Leaders Program. Over three months, participants learned how to build, brand and launch their very own business with support from the industry mentors at BOP Industries – a start-up that has worked with over 100,000 young people around the world. The program culminated in a pitch night, with Rory’s winning presentation netting him $1000 in prize money. Rory’s business, Bat’s Media, specialises in lighting, sound and photography services for events, festivals and gigs.
